Family is super special to me. I have always been quite close to all of my siblings (I’m the baby of four) and so when I first found out I was going to be an Auntie for the first time I was sooooo excited, as you can imagine.
At that point I had only been capturing newborn baby photos for about 1 year, so it was all still quite new to me. I just couldn’t wait to photograph the new addition to the family :)
Little Heidi was born & had a newborn session with Mum & Dad, then a few more snaps when she was about 3 months of age, a fun Snow White themed session when she was about 8months... and then a Mummy & Me session just a few months ago.
The Mummy and Me session was very fun, natural and unposed. This was a bedroom type setting with a bed & beautiful white sheer curtains.
Mum and baby just play on the bed together reading books, having cuddles and just being natural as if they were at home.
The session went very well and we got some funny shots of Heidi sitting on mums belly riding her like a horse :) Here face was so lit up, it was such a magical moment - We will really treasure these images forever.
When we were wrapping up the session my sister said that she wanted to get 1 last shot of Heidi wearing this special outfit that her in-laws had brought for her. She wanted an image to send to them in Australia as they live there and don’t get to see the family very often.
She said it was so cute that I had to turn around and let Heidi put it on first before I could peek. Apparently Heidi felt so grown up in this outfit and was excited to show Auntie Annie.
I turned away to let her get dressed, and I was waiting for my cue to turn back around... in my head I expected some huge princess dress or a very glittery over the top unicorn onesie...
"Ok you can look now" my sister said... so I spun back around ready to take the shot of her in her new little outfit.
Well.... I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing.. I think I was in shock at first...... I burst into tears and ran and gave them both a big hug :)
I’m going to be an auntie all over again!!!
This was such a special moment and I can't wait for the next chapter...
